The Batlskin Cobra Combat Helmet: Product Review
First issued in 2013, the Cobra plus Combat Helmet has remained a standard ballistic helmet for the Danish Army and the British Forces. The ballistic helmet has its origins from the USA. Ever since it first appearance on the scene of combat and military use, the Cobra plus Combat Helmet has had different variants such as the Batlskin Cobra Combat Helmet.
Produced by Revision, a ballistic helmet manufacturing company, the Batlskin Cobra system is a new development for modern soldier in terms of full face protections. In the words of Jonathan Blanshay, CEO of Revision,
“The unfortunate reality is that wartime head and face injuries are at an all-time high. The Batlskin System not only makes radical leaps forward in helmet and liner technology; its integrated visor and mandible guard could also greatly reduce the incidence of traumatic brain injury in blast situations.”
He also stated that,
“At the same time, the modular and scalable nature of this system provides soldiers with the unique ability to quickly armor up and down as the threat environment dictates.”
No doubt, this ballistic helmet is a top-pick for armies all over the world. First off, the helmet makes use of advanced shell technology to achieve weight reduction without trading off its performance against ballistic threats. In fact, the helmet is 20% lighter than current helmet shells while still retaining protection against blunt trauma force, blast and ballistic threats.
The helmet has been tested and has been certified by the National Institute of Justice to offer Level IIIA ballistic protection. This means that wearers are protected against most handgun rounds, as well as 9mm NATO and .44 Magnum). All thanks to their manufacturing process which involve the use of hybridized layers of materials.
The helmet is made to protect the wearer without taking away the element of comfort.
